Our Story
Enhanced Sensory Augmentation
Inspired by the concept of Enhanced Sensory Augmentation, Buzz Alert is an innovative app that uses machine learning to turn modern smartphones into effective mosquito detectors. Much like using a camera to see distant objects clearly, Buzz Alert harnesses the power of smartphone audio sensors to proactivly detect the presence of mosquitos by identifying the unique buzzing sound of mosquitos.

The app’s user interface is intuitive. Transitioning to a compass-like display upon detecting a mosquito, the feature guides users towards the mosquito with audio-visual cues, showing the insect's relative position for precise targeting.

To develop this feature, we've created a comprehensive mosquito sound dataset, capturing recordings in various environments and distances, and across different smartphone models.

The AI, trained with this dataset, discerns mosquito presence from sound. This data, including control recordings in mosquito-free areas, trains the AI to identify mosquito presence and evaluate the sensitivity of various smartphone microphones.
